PREDICTIONS OF THE WEEK

Prdiction
  • Hull are without a win since the opening day and will see this home match as the perfect chance to pull themselves away from the early strugglers.
  • Palace, however, are unbeaten in the league under Warnock and are scoring goals more freely at present, with Yannick Bolasie in impressive form for the Eagles.
  • The hosts have conceded too many goals of late and may struggle to keep out the Londoners but will be confident of causing problems of their own at the other end.

           Hull     2 :  2  Crystal Palace

Prediction

  • After a run of 3 games unbeaten, Leicester were brought down to earth with a 2-0 defeat at Crystal Palace. Nigel Pearson needs to remind the players of the task at hand and return to winning ways ahead of the international break.
  • Burnley are really struggling following their return to the Premier League. The Clarets were handed a wake up call with the 4-0 defeat to West Brom, while the Clarets have just 3 points from 6 games and have scored just 1 goal.
  • Things don't get any easier here. Leicester appear far more accustomed to the rigours of England's top tier and have enough about them to secure a win.

Burnley

Prediction

  • Liverpool's 1-0 defeat to Basel in midweek means they have won only 2 of their last 6 competitive fixtures. Brendan Rodgers is struggling to balance both domestic and European duties and must find a system to bring out the best in his players.
  • West Brom have looked resurgent in the last two weeks. The Baggies have won each of their last 3 games in all competitions, while 2 wins in their last 2 league matches has lifted Alan Irvine's side up into midtable.
  • Just 1 point seperates these two teams and while Liverpool have won only 1 of the last 3 league meetings at Anfield against West Brom, they should have enough to come away with a win here.
Prediction:

West Bromwich Albion

Prediction

  • Sunderland are without a win but have drawn 5 of their first 6 games so a game that, on the face of it, has draw written all over it may not excite the home support.
  • The Potters are unebaten on the road thus far and will be confident of keeping another clean sheet against a Black Cats outfit that have failed to score three times already this season.
  • Each of the last 6 meetings between these two sides have seen 2 or fewer goals scored and that doesn't look likely to change on Saturday.
Prediction:

Stoke

Prediction

  • Swansea have failed to win any of their last 3 league games and Garry Monk will be keen to see his team return to winning ways. The have the perfect opportunity to do so against a floundering Newcastle United side.
  • The Magpies' disastrous start to the campaign continued away at Stoke on Monday. Owner Mike Ashley insists Alan Pardew won't be sacked, but defeat here will heap further pressure on the manager's shoulders.
  • The hosts have impressed at home this term and a win is certainly on the cards.

Newcastle United

Prediction

  • After an encouraging start to the season Villa's weaknesses are beginning to be exposed once more, with Lambert's side failing to create meaningful chances in open play and now leaking goals at the back.
  • City had a tough match with Roma in midweek but will look to bounce back from an ultimately disappointing stalemate at home with a win in the league as they can't afford to lose more ground on leaders Chelsea.
  • Pellegrini's side will be keen to exact their revenge after losing in the corresponding fixture at Villa Park last season and should have too much for a Villa backline that are struggling without captain Vlaar.
Prediction:

Prediction

  • Arsenal face their biggest test of the season so far, in one of the many games in which they crumbled to a heavy defeat last season.
  • Chelsea are top of the table and looking relentless in their quest to regain the Premier League title, and they will be hoping for a repeat of last season's 6-0 mauling.
  • Arsenal barely looked like they were learning from previous defeats last season, and with only 1 fit defensive midfielder, they could again be vulnerable to Chelsea's counter-attacking.
  • Cesc Fabregas will line up against his former club and could well ensure they are made to regret not re-signing him.

Arsenal

Prediction

  • The weekend's football ends with a London derby at Upton Park as West Ham host QPR with both sides really needing points from this game.
  • QPR have taken only 4 points from 6 games so far and this will be considered a chance to get more points on the board.
  • However, West Ham have looked reinvented this season and romped to a 3-1 win over Liverpool last time they played at home. They should pick up another three points here.
