It seems the biggest problem confronting Jose Mourinho this off-season is not the search for a potent - and regular - goalscorer afterall.
No, it’s deciding on the future of the perenially on-loan goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
And if the Belgian No.1 had his way it looks like he’d prefer to stay in Madrid with La Liga - and potentially European - champions Atletico and avoid a showdown with incumbent Petr Cech.
“The two of us want to play everything. Nobody will be happy to play in only the League Cup or FA Cup,” said Courtois.
“I have the biggest respect for Petr Cech. He is one of the best goalkeepers in the world so I think putting him and me in the same team is not the healthiest thing in the world.
“We will see in the next week if we can sit together with Chelsea to find something for next year, find out what they want, what my desire is. We will see.”
At the other end of the field, while Diego Costa is firming as the likely striking addition at Stamford Bridge, old boy Didier Drogba won’t be following him.
The veteran Ivory Coast star is reportedly set to join Juventus in Serie A.
